Use Return with Siri and Shortcuts

Ask Siri to capture a conversation or search your notes. Siri starts the action; your notes appear only inside Return.

Ask Siri

  1. Capture

    Say “Capture a conversation in Return” and say what happened. Siri replies Conversation saved. Leave it blank, and Return opens on Capture.

  2. Search

    Say “Search Return” or “Find in Return”. Siri asks What would you like to find in Return? Answer, and Search opens with your words in it.

Shortcuts, the Lock Screen and the Action button

  1. In the Shortcuts app

    Capture and Search Return appear under Return. Type your words into either one.

  2. On the Lock Screen

    Add the Search Return widget to open Search from the Lock Screen.

  3. On the Action button

    In Settings › Action Button, choose Shortcut, then Return’s Capture.

What stays on your device

  • Nothing from your notes is indexed in Spotlight or read aloud by Siri.
  • Siri sees only the action and the words you give it. Results appear only inside Return.
